Attend our upcoming courses sponsored by ALA’s Association of Specialized, Government, and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASGCLA):

E-Resource Licensing:  Best Practices

May 4, 2020 – June 1, 2020

This course explores the role of license agreements in the e-resource environment, and details best practices for creating agreements that protect the rights of users and libraries. You’ll learn about the importance of writing contracts that preserve Fair use and other rights, and how rights differ in the print and electronic environments. You will review the different levels of complexity that exist in the licensing environment, from using a SERU license to simple, single-page agreements for databases to more complex consortial e-journal package licenses.

Negotiating License Agreements and Pricing with Confidence

July 6, 2020 – August 3, 2020

Negotiating license agreements and pricing with publishers and other vendors can be intimidating, particularly when doing so on behalf of multiple institutions. A lack of confidence can be your worst enemy when sitting down with a publisher or vendor to negotiate pricing and contract terms. In this four-week eCourse, instructor Claire Dygert teaches you strategies that will enhance your negotiation skills and the confidence to employ them.
