CDygert Solutions is dedicated to helping libraries keep information affordable, whether that means helping them keep collection costs down, or to play a role in finding solutions to the high costs of textbooks and other instructional materials.
On behalf of the public institutions of higher education in Florida, Claire led the Open Access Textbook and Educational Resources (OATER) Task Force, made up of a diverse group of educators, librarians, and instructional design specialists. She served as the principal investigator for a survey to identify existing OER efforts, the extent to which library resources were being used to defray costs, the challenges faced when incorporating these resources into the coursework, and to determine how a statewide agency could best support OER and related efforts. This work was published in OATER’s report, An Action Plan for Building a Statewide Infrastructure to Support OER in Florida’s Public Institutions of Higher Education, of which Claire was the primary author.
